First birthday fun at home
Recently, I had the joy of photographing this little girl’s first birthday session!
This family decide to mark the occasion with photos and we used their home to create some magic. I love that we could use their familiar space to become part of the day’s memories. Starting in a cozy bedroom (the same one we used for her newborn session) she was dressed in an adorable purple and pink dress, complete with a flower crown when she would keep it on.
Her curiosity and joy filled the room as she explored the space on the double bed. There were some really sweet and candid moments with mum and dad too. The soft hues of her outfit complemented the tones in the room, giving each photo a dreamy, soft feel.
We soon moved the moved outside, with the coloured birthday cake waited for its moment. Little M was tentative at first then enthusiasm was contagious as she dug into her first cake. I loved the gorgeous colourful swirls of icing and she seem to love the taste too. Beautiful cake by Lovett’s Bakery Maitland.
She created a messy, heartwarming scene which made us all laugh and those icing-covered smiles just adorable. Mum and Dad joined in toward the end, sharing in the giggles and even sneaking a few bites themselves.
Capturing this family together again, celebrating in their own space was the best. It was the perfect way to celebrate their baby girl’s first year- full of love, sweetness, and fun.
