New baby in the house

Recently, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful newborn session in Maitland. Stepping into the family’s home, I was immediately wrapped in the warm, love-filled chaos that comes with welcoming a new baby with a toddler already in the house. Mum and Dad were glowing with pride, and big sis was still a little oblivious to her new role – but curious, and cheeky, and interested in the new little person in her house.

We kept the session relaxed and natural, focusing on the new arrival and the connection between this sweet family. Soft morning light filtered through the windows, making for dreamy, intimate images that truly captured the tenderness of these first days. Baby E was wide eyed the whole session, swaddled in soft wraps, while Mum and Dad watched on.

Big sis joined in too, those tiny hands reaching out to pick her sister’s nose haha. She was tender then curious, then giggly and wanting to play. These sibling moments are some of my favourites to capture – raw, real, and so full of love.

Lifestyle newborn sessions like this are all about storytelling. There’s no rush, no pressure, just authentic, heartfelt images that freeze time for a little while. It’s an honour to document these moments, knowing that in years to come, this family will look back at these photos and remember exactly how it felt to hold their little one so close.
