Wild Beach Afternoon – A Heartfelt Session with a Mum and Her Twin Daughters

Some sessions are poised and chilled, some are wild and chaos. This is the later hahaha. The wind was up, the waves were restless, and the sky couldn’t make up its mind… but honestly, it was perfect. This wild beach afternoon is exactly why I love my photographing families!

I met this mum and her daughters for an afternoon session, and together we embraced everything the beach had to offer: the unpredictable weather, the sand, and the wonderfully messy emotions of children.

The twins arrived shy but buzzing with energy, and we tried a few shots near Nobby’s beach pavilion to hide from the wind. This didn’t really work and the girls wanted to go onto the beach. We stopped on the walkway quickly then headed onto the sand.

They were wild in the best possible way—full of laughter, imagination, and that free-spirited spark that only kids seem to have. One moment they were racing seagulls across the sand, the next they were shrieking away from the waves. Mum watched on with a mix of love, humour, and joy that only a mother of twins truly understands.

Of course, no session with kids is complete without the full spectrum of emotions. There were giggles, there were tears, there was sand everywhere—and I mean everywhere. Wind tangled hair, salty skin, wet dresses, and sandy hands wrapped around mum’s neck. And through it all, these moments unfolded honest and real.

These are the sessions I love most—the ones where we throw perfection out the window and let real life shine. The chaos, the cuddles, the wildness, the warmth. Because years from now, these are the moments this mother will remember: a windy afternoon, two sandy little girls, and a heart absolutely overflowing.

If your family is ready for a session that celebrates you—wind, waves, laughter and all—I’d love to capture it for you.
