Where should we have our family photos taken?
- Outdoor Locations: Parks, beaches, and gardens provide beautiful natural backdrops. Great for the children to run and jump and cartwheel!
- Indoor Settings: Your home or my studio can offer a cozy and controlled environment. You might feel more comfortable in your own space and we don't have to battle the weather extremes outside.
- Significant Places: You can choose a location that holds sentimental value to your family, such as a family property or a favourite playground or the place where you got married.
How long does a typical family photo session last?
A typical family photo session lasts 45-60 minutes. This allows time for wandering and chats, changing up the background, and a variety of shots in different combinations without feeling rushed. You can talk and skip and giggle, or just sit and snuggle with your loved ones or a bit of both.
Can we suggest poses or ideas for our session?
Definitely! I love it when families have unique ideas and suggestions for the session. Feel free to share your thoughts and any inspo photos with me beforehand. Do you need to recreate an old photo? Or want to jump in puddles and have a mud fight? Or hike to a lookout and have a picnic? I am open to ideas, let's brainstorm!
How can we prepare our children for the photo session?
- Talk to Them: Explain what will happen and where we will be, let them know they can be themselves and have fun. Get them excited about it!
- Schedule Wisely: For young ones plan the session when your children are usually in good spirits, like after a nap or meal. I know this doesn't always suit but we can try right!
- Bring Snacks and Toys: Bring along a favourite snack and any special toys that might help keep them feel happy and engaged.
What if the weather is bad on the day of our outdoor session?
If bad weather threatens on your session day I will be in contact with you via phone/message so we can make a decision about whether to reschedule to another time or date, or move it to an alternate/indoor location. Flexibility is key, and we'll work together to ensure you still get beautiful photos.
Can we include our pets in the family photos?
Absolutely! Pets are part of the family and are most welcome in your photo session (as long as the location allows it). Just let me know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Would you like me to bring anything?
The less things you bring the better – I shoot throughout the session and often it’s easiest not to have your bag/phone/sunglasses etc with you in the photos. But if there’s anything meaningful that you’d like to incorporate into the photo (a fluffy toy, a blanket, a photograph etc) then let me know and I'll work it in.
What Happens After The Session?
I download and back up your portrait files, then I process your images in my natural style to create a beautiful collection for you to pick from.We arrange a time for around a week later for you to come to my studio to view your photos to pick what you like best. I will take you through my products and help you design the best way to display your portraits in your home.
What products do you offer?
I offer a variety of printing options, including Canvases, Timber prints, Custom framing, wood folio boxes, and bespoke Albums. You can view samples in the studio or browse inspiration on my PRODUCTS page.
How much will it cost?
There is no minimum spend or pressure to buy, you are welcome to invest as little or as much as you like. Most families spend between $500 - $3000. The aim is for you to walk away with something you are super proud to display and gives you all the feels when you see it on your wall at home. Get in touch for a pricing PDF, or I can send a quote if you have a specific size/collection in mind.
How do I pay for my purchases?
Once decisions are made and orders are finalised, payment is on the day via Cash, Credit Card or Bank Transfer. I also offer Afterpay or we can talk about an in-studio payment plan if needed.
What if we need to reschedule our session?
I understand that illness gets passed around easily in small children and workplaces. Please notify me as soon as possible if you need to reschedule and we can find an alternate date.
