Dungog film Festival
In 2024, Dungog hosted the 15th edition of AGOG – A Feast of Foreign Films – at the historic James Theatre. This festival held in August showcased a selection of international films, continuing its tradition of bringing global cinema to the local community. Last year is celebrated its fifteenth year. Since the very first AGOG in 2007, this homegrown festival of international films has developed a reputation for presenting the best of the best films from around the world.
It is a chance for everyone to experience the authentic country hospitality Dungog is known for while exploring the region. The historic James Theatre is the oldest continuous & still running theatre in NSW. I was there to capture the AGOG Opening Night Red Carpet Event “Soirée d’Ouverture”.
Film goers dressed in a touch of French glamour and flair to enjoying a private Soirée. Dressed up and enjoying the atmosphere, patrons enjoyed music and a grazing board in the courtyard. There was a photo booth lounge area, lucky door prizes plus a strut on the red carpet for ‘best dressed’ competition!
There were over 30 volunteers who worked tirelessly to put AGOG on. I love the photos of them in and around the theatre interacting with the guests and enjoying the night after their hard work. Films were shown over three days providing a diverse and entertaining program for punters.
For 2025, AGOG is scheduled to return to the James Theatre on August 22 and 23. This upcoming event promises to continue its legacy of presenting exceptional foreign films to audiences in Dungog. I hope to make it along later this year too!
